Osama bin Laden showed terror but also creativity. Al Quaida in terrorizing the Muslim dictatorships and the US 'brilliantly' channeled Muslim anger, also hyper-anger. Bin Laden used the perfect vehicle to get support: religion. Muhammedan Islam is in ethical crisis (like Catholicism and especially the Lutheran branch Protestantism), but still is a huge force.
Ponder about this: Bush Junior is closely tied to the unimaginibly rich Bin Laden business empirium. Bush Sr. was having breakfast with Osama Bin Laden's brother the morning of 9-11. The Bin Laden family almost has a trillion dollar deposited as US banks like The City Bank. And the Saudis (both pro and anti royal) need the extremely profitable trade with the US (oil and arms), and have a long history of hating Iran, and the shiah part of Iraq. Is Al Quaida using 'right wing US' and paying by playing scapegoat for all US problems? And was Osama bin Laden killed as election stunt of Obama?

Meditation 1: Imagine that you got 'disabled' because strangers through local collaborators stole your middle east oil (petroleum). The strangers don't intend to stop stealing petroleum, and send soldiers and psychologists.
After years of forcefully having accepted theft, rape, humiliation, violence and murder you are VERY sensitive. Now the psychologists prescribe a shocktreatment with 'rationality'. The treatment 'rationality' means ignoring emotion, and torturing most senses like being burned alife. The soldiers do the treatment 'rationality' very thoroughly, not realizing that they apply terrorism. Your 'rational' torturers say 'experience' (they might mean 'prejudice') makes them act murderous. More and more such emotionless 'rationality' leaves you in a spasm (anti-terrorism).

Meditation 2: Young muslim females (traditional or not) in for instance Bagdad desperatily long for having children. Their young husbands out of daily experience know that these children will face a by the US-army with unimaginable force and cruelty destroyed city (US politicians and generals say: 'liberated with rational violence') that looks and smells like a garbage heap. With 'Berlin Walls' of concrete rising out of the mud everywhere. With US soldiers, Iraqi soldiers, Police, Freedom Fighters, Madmen, Criminals, Gangs... Hell on earth: such children would not only suffer deadly corruption everyday but also terrible violence and 8 out of 10 would die like rats.

That way own casualties are seen as result of terrorism and killing mudjaheddin as 'doing good'.
Most well known USA wars took millions of victims, this one until now 'only' a couple of thousands. See Bin Laden as a Muslim Malcolm X. Malcolm X was considered a terrorist, but corresponded just like Mandela and Martin Luther King with the peaceful Haile Selassie. This war will already long be finished before Bin Laden's Al Quaida has made more USA victims than the absolute ethics of the USA constitution made in principle innocent US Army soldiers slaughter 'in the way' Muslims.

Fatwah and Jihad

Not being seen as a head of state Osama bin Laden couldn't officially declare war to the USA, but practically his army 'Al Quaida' (= 'the Fundation', NOT out of 'fundamentalism' but defending Muslim basics) already for many years is in state of war with the USA. BUT (rough guess) he was supported openly or not by 90% of the Muslim population world wide. And he is strongly protected by many very highplaced persons, else he would be dead. That means: Osama bin Laden represents very basic Muslim cultural values. Worth to kill for and to risk your life.
My guess: something close to the value 'respect'. Muslim belief and Muslim myths are not respected by especially the US leaders, but in lesser degree by the pro-rational leaders of many countries. And as persons many Muslims rightfully feel threatened. Such disrespectful behavior raises deadly protest. Another guess: not open for compromise.
American soldiers must see life through weird spectacles, because they don't seem to notice daily killings of civilians. And see desperate protest as terrorism.

The words 'fatwah' and 'jihad' in Muslim culture indicate that the dominant ethics in their view is essentially wrong.
In case of a 'fatwah' it is decent for Christians to give shelter, to indicate that a 'fatwah' only has value within Muslim borders.
But a 'jihad' like any war is often used to attack in Muslim view essentially wrong values within other cultures. It is stronger than their normally great hospitality, and only used if everything else has failed. Just see it as ultimate defense behavior that causes a totally peaceful and emotionally sound community, to go into attack mode. WWII can be seen as a Christian jihad to destroy Nazism. Because Hitler and gang showed serious non-christian behavior. That highlights the seriousnes of the situation, and the explosiveness of the israel-palestine conflict.

I had expected Western politicians to understand such basic conduct, well known in antropology. But I noticed that when out of utter frustration in my Western Christian nursery home I go into 'Jihad mode', the only result is that everybody goes into shock. And afterward doctors, social workers and managers arrive to take care of my 'peace of mind'. I as well could not be there, because they totally neglect what I say. The method of tranquillizing might be some kind of imprisoning, for 'my own good'. Because without any doubt my mistaken view on the world is result of brain damage.
In my nursery home it's AWFULLY frustrating that upto the director everybody says: I follow orders. And the director says: I follow THE law. That's like the US army saying: President's orders. And the US president adding: I have (in our eyes) terrorists killed for the good of the US people.

In the movie "One flew over the Cuckoo's nest" about a Psychiatric Institute there was a very strong Red Indian who preferred simulating to be mad and living in a madhouse above being confronted with a mad outside world using the dominant ethics in the Western World. Osama Bin Laden tries to force such strong individuals in Muslim culture to chose side and fight for their convictions.

Ethics, Religion and Defense

Ancient Gnostic Christianity was thouroughly annihilated by Roman Christianity. This natural belief was much more related to ancient shapes of Islam.
Any system of belief (culture, for instance Buddishm, Western Christianity or Islam) consist of 3 major parts: ethics, religion and defense. Related to this many ages old common sense knowledge ancient 'Gnosticism' posed that human behavior is divided in 3 main types:
1. Prophets (valueing and revaluing ethics; rare and when also leader extremely rare)
2. Warriors (defending accepted ethics, natural leaders)
3. The Herd (followers of leaders, easily tricked into religious behavior)

Maintaining and renewing ethics is the job of the rare subspecies of Prophets. Think of Abraham, Buddha, Jesus.
Defending tradition (accepted ethics) is the job of Warriors (Defense). Think of guys like Mohammad, though Mohammad had more of an Emperor.
The Herd follows leaders based on attraction of ethics. Examples of Herds: Gnostics, Buddhists, Red Indians, Muslims, ....
Religion is fossilized ethics, nevertheless also finds leaders who attract a herd. Examples: The Roman version of Jesus and Roman Christians, Mohammed and Mohammedans. Hinduism is even more attractive to egoistic leaders, because there is no prophet and Hinduism considers itself founded by Gods like the supergod Brahma.

In Western Christianity Prophet, Warriors and Herd all three show religious behavior, or Western Christianity became 1 MegaHerd.
In Mohammedaniism Philosophy seems neglected, but still in Islam rarely fine warrior-leaders step forward.
In Buddhism Defense became self-defense, and warriorship is lacking.

In Mohammedanism the function 'Defense' is still working. In most Muslim countries pro Western rational governments are established, to protect capitalist trade. But traditional forces are still strong and wealthy. Jihad is the ultimate shape of defense. Osama bin Laden in a Jihad tried to save Islam from agressive Western Christianity. The logic 'rationalism' very stealthy occupied Western circles based on power thinking, but is now under serious attack. The only way for the armies to prevent bloodshed is returning to 'common sense' and refuse being used for a World War III with the name 'War against Terrorism'.
The different army tops might unexpectedly have loads of common sense. And certainly the power to say: NO !
Compromise politicians hate saying yes or no, but in the armies that seems a natural command. It would be an in political circles totally unexpected and original way to prevent a devastating Jihad, and a fine start for investigating the mind-murdering thought-system rational thinking.

Off course the armies could organize extreme fights for politicians willing to risk life in man to man combats about ethical principles. They can deliver big and young audiences, appreciating 'guts'.

Abuse

Army-tops worldwide must feel abused. It's like running a combat fighting school, and because of being very disciplined all the time being selected for hazardous traffic experiments. Often resulting in casualties.
Modern studies show that only 2% of common soldiers shoots to kill, 98% doesn't want to kill fellow humans.
Only that 'murderous' 2% of the human population gets very influential positions under Capitalism

And instead of mostly practicing defense soldiers are often being picked out to attack schools in other cultures. It's much more fun to play together.

The mind-body split in ancient Rome was known as 'slavery'. In Europe it developed as rationalism and started 'industrialism'. After a preliminary phase as 'slavery' in the USA finally it disguised also as 'industrialism'. In South Africa it took power as 'apartheid' and in Iraq it enters brought by US-army as 'western democracy'.

The next name is 'management' (already developing in South-Africa and almost at full power in England and USA.
Systems CAN be 'easily' removed, just like viruses. That is IF rational politicians in the lead do not cling to power thinking.

No Buddha or Jesus

Osama Bin Laden is a member of an unimaginably rich family, and a magnificent warlord, but no Jesus.
His actions are understandable. His views are quite basis Islamic. In that way he represented mosts muslims world wide.
His brother the international banker in Geneva wears Armani suits. Two different worlds, one traditional Muslim and one rationalized. Both (to the outside) see the other as 'weird', but seen from outside those worlds the two of them are both weird (or normal).

I didn't know Osama Bin Laden, but some of his translated views and the views of some of his followers are quite fundamental. I.e. very literally following Islam in 1 rockhard interpretation. He had needed a better publicity responsable for the English market. In the present way homosexuality is treated like terrorism (mind not gays like terrorists, more like ill people).

A fantasy: The order in nature is: first culture, than individuals. Naturally anal sex is o.k., but cultures should take care of continuation. That's why dominance of homosexuality as childless way of living WAS to be discouraged, but present technology solved this problem

Western Christianity has other dogma's, take for instance pedofiles. There is still another branch of Christianity, much more like the relative Buddhism. That is Coptic Christanity as found in Ethiopia. I'm sure most Western people share its view of denying slavery in any shape and showing respect to any being. That doesn't mean behaving like 'sheep', but acting like creative respectful 'warriors'.

It is only the bureaucratic top of of Western Christian Church and a very thin toplayer of politicians, 'industrial leaders' and scientists that became since Enlightenment ever more 'rational'. And in such a slow pace that even the members of the exclusive high society membership club Rational Heaven still think to behave perfectly normal. Like the cleanshaven brother of Osama bin Laden who is banker in Geneva, wearing fashionable Western suits. And probably the pope is only an ignorant flag for covering rational but dubious practices.

Back to Osama Bin Laden. He is no Jesus or Buddha, but took an essential role. I.e. weakening rationalism or Western Christian rule (Catholicism seen as doctrine), because all non violent ways showed unsuccessful. As such his role in history is crucial.

Rituals

Off course a few palaces should be destroyed. But 'the poor' don't hate most of 'the rich', only the suppressive part of their habits.
Many of those rich people are very creative. This knowledge and intelligence should not be wasted. That would be like killing 'the hens with the golden eggs'.

Already enough of knowledge and intelligence has been destroyed in nature. It is that way of thinking that should be stopped, not be repeated by another destruction of ESSENTIAL creativity.

The original relative message of Buddha and Jesus: make love, no war. Respect every shape of life.

MIND-1: equal wealth and equal creativity are rational myths!
MIND-2: It's another rational myth that organizations should be top down.
Every quality might have a center, not only Power.

Difference in wealth can have its function, I even can imagine a that a stimulation function based on differences in wealth to be practical. Non economic value however is based on respect.
If you consider respect to be 'more important' than power differences (economic), then out of practical reasons differences in wealth should be mainly caused by the energy spent in labor.

Osma bin Laden teaches the Western World in a hard way the difference between individual death and collective death. A terrible shock in Western Society with a Roman Christian view about death. I.e. only Roman (read Western) dead count. Of course every individual death is a personal drama. But 20 deads in London or even 1000 in New York is peanuts compared to say 85.000 a day (1 every second) in the third world.

That a US goverment after years of compromising only spends on aid 1 cent on every 10 dollars of its gross product, might be called 'terrorist'.
